About Bhujodi
Bhujodi is a small village just outside Bhuj, known for its handloom weavers. Many families of the Vankar community work here, weaving shawls, stoles, blankets and rugs from wool, cotton and other yarns. The patterns come from the traditional designs of Kutch, and many weavers now also make modern pieces.
You can walk into workshops, watch the weavers at their looms and buy straight from them. Some families also show the steps of dyeing and spinning, and are happy to explain how long a single shawl takes to make. There is a craft park in the village where artisans from other parts of Kutch sell embroidery, block prints, bandhani and leatherwork.
Bhujodi is close enough to Bhuj to visit on your first or last day. Nearby Ajrakhpur, a village of block printers who make Ajrakh cloth with natural dyes, fits easily into the same trip. Together they make a good half day for anyone interested in textiles.
